At My Family Cat vet, we approach every cat and every cat parent with compassion.
As Austin’s only veterinary practice dedicated exclusively to feline behavior concerns, we believe behavior is communication — and our role is to help you understand what your cat is trying to say.
We use positive reinforcement–based methods to support the human–feline bond while prioritizing your cat’s emotional wellbeing. Our housecall model allows us to evaluate behavior in your cat’s natural environment, minimizing stress for both you and your cat while giving us a clearer picture of what’s truly going on.
Whether you’re a first-time cat parent or a caregiver with decades of experience, we work alongside you as a team. Our goal is to help you understand your cat’s behavior and develop practical, humane solutions tailored specifically to your household.
Our initial in-home consultations last 2 to 3 hours depending on the service — long enough for a comprehensive behavioral assessment, a careful review of your cat's environment, and meaningful time with our vet Dr. Liu. Cats behave very differently in a clinic setting, and observing them at home provides insight that directly shapes diagnosis and treatment.
Because Dr. Liu is a veterinarian, she reviews your cat's medical history before your visit and is uniquely qualified to identify medical contributors to behavior, recommend diagnostics, prescribe medications, and collaborate directly with your primary care vet.
Following your visit, you and your primary veterinarian both receive a comprehensive written medical and behavior plan with clear action steps. Email support is included so you won't be navigating your cat’s behavior concerns alone.
Consultations are scheduled during daytime hours, with weekend availability to accommodate busy cat parents. We serve cat families throughout the greater Austin area, from Lakeway to Bastrop and Georgetown to San Marcos. Check our service area and travel fees.
